Robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education have become a staple of education sets for school and home use. And while the past couple of years have presented different robots, more recently robot firmware got improved, so robots look the same, but do more. Such is the case with the Cubelets.
The Cubelets came out two years ago as a STEM-based learning robot that was modular – they were all cubes that could magnetically attach and function with simple actions. Using a combination of cubes, behaviors could be defined. It’s a pretty interesting concept, as it’s an approach to coding by using real objects.
This year, the Cubelets are going to the retail sector with a couple of packages, as seen below:
Cubelets can be programmed using an app that is freely available from Modular Robotics, the producer of the Cubelets.
The Curiosity Set comes with 10 Cubelets:
• 1 Battery
• 1 Brightness
• 1 Flashlight
• 1 Inverse
• 1 Passive
• 1 Rotate
• 2 Distance
• 2 Drive
Plus:1 Bluetooth Hat, 2 Brick Adapters, and 1 Charging Cable.
The Discovery Set comes with 5 Cubelets:
- 1 Battery
- 1 Brightness
- 1 Distance
- 1 Drive
- 1 Flashlight
Plus: 1 Bluetooth Hat, 2 Brick Adapters, and 1 Charging Cable.
I will be getting a Curiosity set soon, so look for a review in the coming weeks!
